Community Engagement

Currently serving more than 1,700 young people each year and touching the lives of thousands more, Dance Associate’s Community Engagement Programmes have provided students with inspirational performing arts education opportunities.

To celebrate Dance Associate’s 10th year, the company Community Engagement programme panning to present over 20 community-based performances and dance education workshops throughout 2021-2022.

The programme will be delivered for different age groups to introduce dance to communities in the Newry, Mourne and Down area.

Dance Associate's Community Engagement (CE) Programmes are committed to empowering individuals and developing life skills through creative and educational dance programming while strengthening ties within Newry, Mourne and Down underserved communities.

Programmes are designed to inspire a greater appreciation for dance and develop participants’ Social-Emotional Learning.

After School / Summer Intensive

A-Level School students work as apprentices or advanced apprentices in this 6-week summer partnership programme. With instruction by Dance Associate staff, students participate in a rigorous rehearsal schedule, working with a number of guest choreographers and perform throughout Northern Ireland.
As part of the intensive, each student group acts as an ensemble, perfecting a repertoire of 10-15 dances they perform throughout the programme and at a final showcase in August.
